Flu season is just around the corner, which means flu shot season is here. Hopefully, you’ve been taking good care of yourself and your immune system primed and ready for “germ warfare.” If you’re not ready, later in this article, we’ll talk about what you can do at this late stage, but regardless of whether you’re ready or not, I don’t recommend you get a flu shot.
If you’ve been paying even a modicum of attention to the flu news for the last several years, you know that the so-called authorities have been hard at work trying to scare everyone on earth into buying into their flu shot scam. This goes back all the way to 1976 with the original swine flu scare where dozens of people died from the shot and nobody actually died of the flu. Last winter, with the swine flu reboot, the story was similar. Lots of side effects from the shots, and one of the mildest flu seasons on record, despite the masses largely rejecting the shot. A few years before, we were all supposed to be scared to death of the bird flu. Before that, SARS was the evil specter.
In each of these cases, the “authorities” claimed that this new flu was either certain to kill millions worldwide, or had the potential to become a deadly worldwide pandemic if we didn’t all roll up our sleeves and accept their “herd strengthening” shots. So far, they’re zero for four. No pandemic, very few deaths actually related to the flu, and those few deaths that have occurred have been in severely immune compromised people more often than not. (By the way, the CDC’s number of “flu deaths,” often estimated at 36,000/year, are drastically over-inflated. That’s because they include in their numbers people who die from pneumonia, which is a different disease altogether, and one for which the flu shot is not protective anyway. This is where the vast majority of their “flu-related deaths” come from.)
Of course, so far, we’ve only discussed the scary sounding “mutant” flus, the ones with some other species in their name or a cool acronym. But let’s not forget all the “communist flus” that have come our way in recent years; you know, the ones with Asian sounding names like the Shanghai flu, because commie germs are pretty scary too. In fact, if you think about it, almost every year, we hear from the CDC that they’re expecting an exceptionally bad flu season, regardless of the name. This is inevitably followed up with the warning to get your flu shot early. Amazingly, and predictably, this is followed almost immediately by constant media reports of flu shot shortages, which, as any good marketing person will tell you, only increases demand and makes people clamor for the shots even more.
After a few months of this silliness, i.e. once the drug companies have reaped their rewards for scaring us to death, yet again, we hear that the shot was “not a good match” and therefore wasn’t very protective against this year’s flu, thus confirming everyone’s grumblings. When the stats are finally reviewed, months later, we find that there was little or no statistical advantage for those receiving the shot over those who did not get the shot. It’s the same story every year. In fact, a large meta analysis covering many years on this topic has shown that for those most at risk for the flu (the elderly and the very young), the shots do no good at all. And then, there’s the downside.
First of all, many people get the flu right after receiving their flu shot. This is ironic, but somehow not all that surprising. However, there are much scarier possibilities regarding the flu shot than just getting the flu. Until a few years ago, all flu shots had mercury in them, but with all the fuss in the news about mercury causing autism, there’s been a big change there. Today, only most flu shots have mercury in them; that is, there are a few that don’t. Mercury is the most toxic non-radioactive element on the planet. It has a strong affinity for nervous tissue like the brain and has been strongly linked to a variety of neurological conditions like autism, MS, Lou Gehrig’s disease, Alzheimer’s, and Parkinson’s. Another thing to worry about with the flu shot is a disease that’s closely related to polio. In fact, for all intents and purposes, it is polio. It’s called Guillain-Barré Syndrome. Symptoms can include everything from pain to paralysis to death. This disease also seems to be linked with the mercury in the shots. (Polio was also linked to heavy metal poisoning, by the way. It was the elimination of certain heavy metal-laden pesticides that led to polio’s decline in the U.S.; not the polio shot. For more on this fascinating story, read my book Thugs, Drugs and the War on Bugs.)
So, do you think it’s worth the risk to dance with the possibility of any one of these chronic neurological conditions for a zero to 30 percent chance of avoiding a flu?
Now, let me tell you about some things that would be much wiser choices. First, taking vitamin D has been shown to be much more protective than the flu shot. It only makes sense that as we get less sunlight on exposed skin that we might need to supplement the “sunshine vitamin” in the winter. Echinacea has a long history of boosting the immune system, and despite what you may have heard, it can be taken all winter long. Goldenseal is another good herb for immune enhancement. Chiropractic adjustments have also been scientifically proven to give the immune system a nice boost. Standard Process, the whole food supplement company I recommend, has several supplements that help with immune function including Congaplex, Immuplex, and Cataplex AC.
Better yet, however, is to live a healthy life all the way up to and through the flu season. One of the most important bits of dietary advice I can give you is to avoid sugar. Sugar, in all of its forms (with the possible exception of fruit), is disastrous to the immune system and I believe the overconsumption of sugar, along with increased stress and decreased sunlight, greatly contributes to the creation and spread of cold and flu germs. The way it works is thus: Various forms of stress (emotional, nutritional, physical, electrical, chemical) cause your body to become sick. Sick bodies create the perfect environment for germs to live and breed in. Think Field of Dreams: “If you build it, they will come.” In fact, Louis Pasteur recanted his life’s work on his death bed. He said, “The germ is nothing; the terrain is everything.” But not only are you inviting germs in with a sick body, your body actually creates germs in a process known as pleomorphism. This too is fully explained in my book Thugs, Drugs and the War on Bugs.
If it’s already too late and you feel like you’re coming down with something, my best advice is to do what your mother told you—stay warm, drink lots of fluids (water, tea, or soup; not juice, which is high in sugar), get plenty of rest, avoid work/stress, etc. At this point, you’ll want to increase your doses of the herbs and supplements recommended above. Another thing you might add into your regimen is colloidal silver. Do not, I repeat, do not get antibiotics for a cold or flu. Antibiotics only kill bacteria. Colds and flus are not bacterial conditions. (The same holds for most sinus infections, ear infections, and even bronchitis.) You will only mess up your gut by taking antibiotics for these conditions.

but why they aren’t necessary.”

Until next time, take care, and stay healthy!
I’ve found that occilococcinum taken when I start to feel flu symptoms really helps me. Do you have an opinion about it?
Giulie,
I’ve never heard of that stuff, nor can I pronounce it
Thanks for the tip!
Dr, My Bro. Inlaw is well into Als, would collodial silver be a benefit, I Love this guy, and hate to watch him go down, any info is greatful. thanks very much. c
Chuck,
Sorry to hear that. I think that ALS is a heavy metal toxicity issue more so than a pathogen issue, so I’d suggest to him that he find someone knowledgeable in detoxing heavy metals and work in that direction while also supporting nervous system repair (EFAs and such). I’d suggest using oral chelation rather than IV chelation unless the person has lots of experience or your brother in law is just out of time and other options. But, I don’t think colloidal silver will hurt anything. I had a good friend and colleague die from ALS several years ago. He was full of heavy metals. Very sad to watch. Good luck to you!
